Talking np Ann

Hey Ann sounds like you might have a few things going on

1- sounds like the pop-ups may be spyware or adware issue(use this one of many free tools to help you called Spybot ,does a good job of getting rid of most of them(click HERE.) Your anti-virus program won't rid them for you.

2-the reason your home page MSN keeps changing on you sounds like you have a nasty webbrowser hijacker(wikipedia info HERE.) Its sole purpose is to make sure you see a page they created with ads on it at any cost..if this means deep rooting themselves into your machine then thats what they have done, your anti-virus protection 99% of the time can't remove them.
You may have downloaded a Free toolbar like (CoolWeb)for which it was loaded on to your computer.
This type of parasite may prove to be alittle more difficult to remove.Sometimes you can get lucky using spybot to remove this form of parasite. But in most cases even a spyware remover can fail to get rid of a particular parasite. That is why there are Internet resources such as www.2-Spyware.com which provide manual malware removal instructions. These instructions allow the user to manually delete all the files, directories, registry entries and other objects that belong to a parasite.Tools that I use like Hijack-This,are manual removal tools and require fair system knowledge and therefore can be a quite difficult task for novices as yourself Ann.

So try using spybot or adAware but chances are slim they can fix the problem.
I found a free program i would like you to try out,its called "Browser Hijack Retaliator" its free click here to download it.
Hope this helps Ann and sorry about your teens.
